Is Brooklin a good place to live?
Yes. Brooklin is one of Durham Region’s most sought-after family communities. It combines a small heritage downtown with newer subdivisions, good schools, parks and quick access to Highway 407. Newer detached homes in Brooklin often sell above that.

About Brooklin, Ontario
Brooklin was settled in the 1820s. A flour mill built on Lynde Creek around 1840 gave the village its start, and the settlement, first called Winchester, was renamed Brooklin in 1847. The historic core along Baldwin Street became a Heritage Conservation District in 2008, protecting its 19th-century storefronts, churches and homes.
For most of the 20th century Brooklin stayed a small farming village. Growth came in waves: Meadowcrest in the late 1950s, the Village of Brooklin subdivision in the 1990s, Olde Winchester in the 2000s, and large new subdivisions after Highway 407 opened just south of the village in 2016.
Today Brooklin feels like a small town with suburban conveniences. The village core has local shops, restaurants and the annual Brooklin Spring Fair, while newer neighbourhoods have parks, schools and plazas close by. Countryside, conservation areas and the Oak Ridges Moraine are a short drive north.

Benchmark prices describe a typical home, not an average sale price. Ask us for current sold data on any street.
Detached homes make up most of Brooklin’s housing, and newer two-storey homes on family streets usually sell above the Whitby benchmark. Freehold townhouses and semis in the newer subdivisions are the most affordable way into the community.
