About Etobicoke, Toronto

Etobicoke is Toronto’s westernmost district, between the Humber River and Etobicoke Creek, stretching from Lake Ontario north to Steeles Avenue. It was its own city until Toronto amalgamated in 1998.

South Etobicoke runs along Lake Ontario, from the condo towers of Humber Bay Shores to the older lakeside communities of Mimico, New Toronto and Long Branch. Central Etobicoke includes The Kingsway, Humber Valley Village and Islington Village, some of Toronto’s most established family neighbourhoods.

North Etobicoke, including Rexdale, Thistletown and Humberwood, offers some of the most affordable detached homes in the city, plus Humber Polytechnic and the new Line 6 Finch West LRT, which opened in December 2025.

The City of Toronto is turning the Six Points area at Kipling and Dundas into a new Etobicoke City Centre, with condos, a new civic centre and transit at Kipling station.
